ALBERTA

PROVINCIAL PARKS

CARSON-PEGASUS PROVINCIAL PARK – BWA in effect May 16 until further notice.

CRIMSON LAKE PROVINCIAL PARK – BWA in place May 15 until further notice.

DILLBERRY LAKE PROVINCIAL PARK – BWA issued May 16 due to spring water system maintenance, park visitors are advised that water in park facilities is not considered potable. Visitors should provide their own water or boil it before consuming and using. This advisory remains in place until further notice.

LESSER SLAVE LAKE PROVINCIAL PARK – BWA in effect May 14. Park visitors are advised that water in several campgrounds and park facilities is not considered potable, at this time. Maintenance is working towards a solution to this issue. Visitors should provide their own water or boil it before consuming and using until further notice.

PEMBINA RIVER PROVINCIAL PARK – BWA in place May 15. Pembina River has non-potable (non-drinking) water currently. They recommend not to drink the water otherwise boil water for five minutes before using it for consumption/cooking and cleaning.

THUNDER LAKE PROVINCIAL PARK – Updated May 18, 2024: Water is not potable due to the construction/drilling of a new well that will enhance water pressure throughout the Park. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own water until the well is drilled and water passes testing.

WILLIAM A. SWITZER PROVINCIAL PARK – April 24, 2024 Gregg Lake Campground, water will not be potable for the first 2-3 weeks of operation.

May 16th Flood Warning downgraded to FLOOD WATCH for the residents in low-lying, flood prone areas of Lake Temagami-Sturgeon River-Lake Nipissing-Upper French River. Water levels and flows have continued to be elevated along the Lake Nipissing Shoreline; over the past month the Watershed received significant rainfall/runoff after several weather systems. Daily average water level of Lake Nipissing in North Bay has decreased by about 9 cm since its peak on April 23rd. The water level on Lake Nipissing has been receding but remains above normal. May 14th, the average level on the lake was measured at 196.13m which is below the ‘non-damage’ level of 196.22m. This Advisory will remain in effect until Friday, May 24th at 4pm unless it’s updated or replaced by this time. The NORTH BAY-MATTAWA WATERSHED has been under advisory since March 7th.

May 17 An EVACUATION ALERT has been issued for OLD CROW Evacuation Zones 1, 2 and 3 due to the risk of flooding along the PORCUPINE RIVER during seasonal breakup/snowmelt. Evacuations will begin if water rises quickly, threatening utilities and overtops the Dump Road.

May 19 FLOOD WATCH UPDATE: Water level is expected to reach its highest point sometime this week; Crews are working to repair and maintain access to the sewage lagoon and the dump; Ski Chalet Road is under 12 inches of water due to mountain runoff; North Road has minor flooding. Residents are urged to assiduously CONSERVE WATER USE to help mitigate sewage lagoon issues and reminded to be ready to leave on a moment’s notice.
