FORT NELSON Community Water System – WQA issued May 27. While Fort Nelson evacuated the Water System Operator remained on-site to ensure the wildfire did not impact the water system infrastructure. Operator noted high water usage at the start of the evacuation for firefighting efforts. As the evacuation went on, the water usage decreased but the distribution system remained in use. Chlorine residual was maintained between 0.75 to 0.8 mg/L at the end of distribution. WQA has been issued due to reduced demand and stagnation of water within the private service lines.

The Water Quality Advisory will remain in effect until further notice.
