ISSUED
CRANBROOK Municipal WS - WQA issued April 9 due to elevated turbidity. Boiling is recommended for children, elderly and those with weakened immune systems.
This Water System does not currently meet all Canadian Standard Drinking Water Guidelines; It is not currently achieving 3-log reduction of Cryptosporidium and does not have two treatment processes. The City has approved funding for a new UV Disinfection Facility Water Treatment Plant to provide the required multi-barrier approach; the project is currently in the design phase with construction expected to begin later this year. Raw (source) water sampling history has shown Manganese in exceedance of the MAC on occasion.
SORRENTO Water System – WQA issued April 9 due to elevated turbidity following recent rainfall and spring melting. CSRD said a boil notice has not been issued as the turbidity has not reached the level to warrant one, but those with weakened immune systems are being advised to boil their water or use an alternate source. High turbidity level may impair the effectiveness of the water disinfection treatment system. Approx 430 connections on this System.
STAR PLACE Water System – WQA issued April 9 due to increased turbidity in source water caused by the annual freshet. As a precaution, it is recommended that all customers, especially those with weakened immune systems, children and the elderly should BOIL all water for at least one minute.
This Water System does not currently meet all Canadian Standard Drinking Water Guidelines; The System draws water from a surface source and it’s treatment method solely consists of chlorine disinfection. Raw (source) water sampling conducted March 2024 detected Lead in exceedance of the MAC. There are 8 connections on this System.
