SALT SPRING ISLAND BC: BOIL WATER ADVISORY MAY BE SHORT
This story is brought to you in part by SunWind Solar
A boil water advisory (BWA) issued Monday afternoon for the Capital Regional District on Salt Spring Island will be suspended as soon as possible. The BWA was in response to possible contaminants in the water that is undergoing testing.
"Contamination occurred following a rupture in the water line on May 7," said Matt McCrank, senior manager for Infrastructure Operations.
He told this reporter a crack in the "pipeline disrupted service affecting approximately 244 homes in the Highlands service area." Water service was expected to resume in 48 hours.
Pipeline breaks occur about once per year. The CRD operates 16 small and 2 large pipelines.
