Advisory of the Day

“Everyone belongs and flourishes in community. No one walks alone” is the vision of El’dad Ranch, a non-profit organization located on 18 wooded acres a few miles north of Steinbach, Manitoba. Providing residential support, vocational training and assistance in designing a future choice for men with intellectual disabilities, participants live on-site in one of three facilities with support provided by volunteers and staff.

WaterToday reached out to Day Program Coordinator, Brent McNaughton, who told us in an emailed statement: “As part of our ongoing commitment of safety to our participants and staff at the Ranch, we send a well water sample to the lab in Winnipeg to be tested for E. Coli and Coliforms on a monthly basis.”

“Our sample that was sent on October 21, 2019 came back with 0-MPN/100ml for E.coli and 1-MPN/100ml for Coliform. We conducted a re-test on Oct. 25, 2019, which showed the exact same results to which The Office of Drinking Water of Manitoba issued El’dad Ranch with a boil water advisory. Since that time we have been buying and issuing bottled water for drinking and brushing teeth to everyone at the Ranch and ensuring boiled water is used for making coffee and washing vegetables. On the 28th of October our well was shocked as per recommendations from the province and the water will be analyzed on the 4th of November. We are hopeful the advisory will be lifted that week.”

As an Initiatives For Just Communities Program, El’dad provides a variety of products at not- for- profit prices. Included for sale are firewood, honey, and custom made furniture and other custom wood products. You may visit the El’dad gallery at eldadproducts.com
