MONTRÉAL, QC: BROKEN WATER MAIN LEADS TO BWA IN OUTREMONT, PLATEAU BOROUGHS
This story is brought to you in part by Sourceia - Eco-houses
Parts of two Montréal boroughs were under a precautionary boil water advisory (BWA) March 13. The website for Outremont indicated that the advisory was issued for certain addresses on rue Durocher, rue Hutchinson, avenue Van Horne, and avenue du Parc. The BWA was in place "until further notice."
Michel Tanguay, a Communications Manager with the Arrondissement du Plateau-Mont-Royal, one of the two affected boroughs, confirmed that the advisory was issued as a precaution due to a broken water main. He explained that the affected areas were "specific parts of Outremont and the Plateau-Mont-Royal."
City crews were effective in their repair work, at the time we communicated with Tanguay he indicated that "the broken main pipe [had] been fixed."
Residents and commerces that were charged with boiling their water before consuming need not worry, Tanguay said the BWA was "lifted today," 24 hours after being issued.
