BWN: System has been placed on a boil water advisory due to total coliform count, untreated water (UV disconnected) and lack of bacteriological water sampling. VCH

26/MAY/2022 - CATALYST PAPER - POWELL RIVER DIVISION
BWN: December 2021 The Paper Excellence Company (Catalyst) announced the indefinite closure of the paper mill in Powell River, B.C. It is VCH understanding that the water system is still in operation for any and all ongoing site operations. A boil water advisory was issued May 26, 2022 due to an E. coli count and an elevated Total Coliform counts. Although two consecutive negative counts have since been achieved the operator and DWO have decided to keep the system on a Boil Water Advisory. Factors considered for this decision include stagnation, staffing, and inadequate treatment.

BWN issued: Failure to disinfect ground water at risk of containing pathogens.
Observation: UV was not connected to power at the time of inspection.
Corrective Action: The UV system was alarming when the power was turned on. Water must be treated at all times. VCH
19/FEB/2018 - A & B BURGE WATER SYSTEM
June 23, 2023 Inspection: A UV system on A & B Burge Water System has yet to be installed due to financial reasons. As such a long term BWA remains in place due to untreated drinking water at risk of containing pathogens.
