RUSSET BLUFF WATER SYSTEM
Type:
Water Quality Advisory
-
Inactive
Issued: 5/15/2024
Details:
Located at 2214 Grebe Drive (East end of Williams Lake), this system provides drinking water to approx 90 connections.
The System is comprised of two wells, two well houses, associated pumps and distribution piping, fire hydrants and one reservoir.
The upper well is used most of the year and water quality meets all standards. However, in the summer months, drawdown in the upper well is such that the lower well needs to be put on-line. The lower well has manganese at levels that exceed the Maximum Allowable Concentration.
Managed by Cariboo Regional District.
14/MAR/2024 WQA issued due to Manganese concentrations exceeding the Canadian Drinking Water Guideline.
15/MAY/2024 BWN issued due to the use of untreated water from the Lower Well (which has been designated as a “Groundwater source at risk of pathogens” (“GARP”).
WQA is required due to the Lower Well having a high concentration of Manganese.
Advisories are in place due to operational change in supply.
24/MAY/2024 Interior Health has downgraded the BWN to a WQA.
The WQA related to Manganese concentrations in water sourced from the Lower Well also remains in effect.
The WQAs will remain in effect until the water source is again switched to the upper well in the fall.
