Oct 20 Due to significant weather event causing severe flooding across the district, the District of North Vancouver declares state of local emergency and issued a mandatory evacuation order for six properties in Deep Cove due to the risk of impacted private infrastructure following significant rainfall; a sinkhole has developed in the area. Also, one of the retaining walls in the neighbourhood has been damaged from being overcome by water.
In the Woodlands community approximately 80 homes were isolated when their access road was washed out.
Short-term emergency supports are in place for residents who have experienced significantly impacted due the storm system.
North Shore residents are strongly encouraged to stay away from all trails, forested areas, steep slopes and waterways due to public safety concerns about falling branches or trees and swollen creeks.
