Details:
BURNSIDE Shortage Nov 26: Water Conservation Measures Continue for approx. 118,000 Customers served by the Lake Major Plant; both Mandatory Restrictions and Voluntary Water Conservation Measures have been in effect since Nov 14 for Dartmouth, Burnside, Cole Harbour, Westphal, North Preston and Eastern Passage due to a prolonged period of low precipitation resulting in lower-than-normal water levels in Lake Major.
According to the Canadian Drought Monitor, the accumulative short-term precipitation deficits experienced since March have produced Abnormally Dry (D0) to Severe Drought (D2) conditions across the Maritimes.
Water Conservation is commonplace during the summer months for Nova Scotians, but this fall has been the driest they’ve seen in many years; Water Trucks are struggling to keep up with demand and find themselves prioritizing what delivers they can manage.
