Details:
FLOODING February 14 due to a ruptured water main, 3 foot in diameter, that sent a torrent of water into the street causing road closures, evacuations and power outrages. Floodwaters rushed into the lower floors of nearby apartment buildings, submerging parking garages and electrical rooms. Tenants wait without running water and electricity while crews pump out floodwaters and repair water main.
Metro Vancouver chief administrative officer says the pipes were built in the 1960s and are half way through their life cycle, engineers and water services teams will be conducting a full investigation to determine the cause of the failure .
The City informs residents that they may notice cloudiness or reduced pressure in their drinking water, but the water remains safe to consume.
