-
Active
Issued: 3/10/2025
Details:
SPILL Diesel leaked undetected through a crack in an underground pipe at the Irving gas station on Beardsley Road. The leak was discovered December 12, 2024 after Tim Hortons filed an incident report with the province when their testing revealed the presence of petroleum in the untreated water source, the treated water supply did not show signs of contamination. These results led to the immediate closure of the Tim Hortons, Murrays Restaurant and the gas station. For more than two months, vacuum trucks and environmental disaster cleanup crews have worked around the clock. Based on product recovery data, it is estimated that the amount of diesel released into the environment is in excess of 100,000 L.
