[Return to Alberta | Return to province list]
STURGEON RIVER (St. Albert)
Type:
Water Quality Advisory
-
Active
Issued: 4/18/2025
Details:
WQA issued April 18 due to elevated levels of fecal bacteria detected in the water. The Health Authority advises not to drink the water, consume fish or engage in any activities that involve exposure to the water or shoreline of the Sturgeon River, for the specific area of the river northeast of the Ray Gibbon Drive bridge downstream. The advisory came about due to sampling performed to monitor a sewage release that occurred in February due to a clogged sewer pipe; at the time, the river was frozen over.
