 CANADA’S TECH TEAM CERT  NOW ONE OF THE TOP TEN FINALISTS FOR THE COVETED COSIA CARBON XPRIZE

 CONVERTING CO2 INTO CHEMICAL FUELS – U OF T CARBONTECH GROUP GAINING NATIONAL AND GLOBAL RECOGNITION 
 After two and a half years of hard work and innovation since the launch of the NSRG COSIA Carbon XPRIZE, the teams have been narrowed down from 47 to 10.
 
 The US$20 million NRG COSIA Carbon XPRIZE is a global initiative, operated by the XPRIZE Foundation, designed to accelerate new technologies by converting CO2 emissions from industrial facilities for electricity generation and oil and gas production.
 
 The competition is structured as a two-track prize, with the new technologies tested at either a coal power plant or a natural gas power plant.  A total of US $20 M will be awarded to winning teams, with US $10M awarded for each track.
 
 The final teams showcase a variety of innovative ideas, including: converting captured CO2 into products like enhance concrete, liquid fuels, plastics and carbon fibre.  The finalists will take home a share of a US$5 million milestone prize to test their technologies for commercial development over the next two years.
 
 The competition takes place in three rounds over 54 months.
 
 Now in the final round CERT is one of 10 team finalists .
 
 Although the COVID pandemic has presented challenges, the CERT Team continues to forge ahead with their mission.
