Little Pine FN Update:
LITTLE PINE FIRST NATION, SK - BWA issued 2008/1/10

WATER TREATMENT PLANT UPGRADE COMPLETE, OPERATOR TRAINING UNDERWAY

Little Pine First Nation in Saskatchewan is home to 975 people on reserve. The community upgraded their water treatment plant with funding from Indigenous Services Canada.

There is one long-term drinking water advisory affecting 250 homes and 10 community buildings:

  • A boil water advisory on the Little Pine Public Water System was set in November 2018 and became long-term in November 2019

Infrastructure is in place that can produce clean drinking water. Water operator training is underway and the Circuit Rider Training Program is providing operational support. When water operator training is successfully completed, the community should be in a position to lift the long-term drinking water advisory.

According to a statement from Trembley Electric:

"The construction of a new water treatment facility at Little Pine was crucial for addressing long-standing issues with the community’s water supply. The upgraded water treatment facility includes upgrades to two existing well control buildings, installation of a new well along with upgrades to the existing wells, an emergency back-up generator power, installation on water treatment equipment and reverse osmosis and installation of communication tower and radio equipment between the water treatment facility and remote well sites."
