FIRST NATION WATER ADVISORIES – October 4, 2026

There are currently 43 short-term water advisories (down from 45) in First Nations communities across Canada and 38 long-term water advisories in 36 communities

FIRST NATION SHORT TERM ADVISORIES

October 4, 2026

Overview: As per Indigenous Services Canada, there are 38 short-term water advisories in First Nations communities – not including BC: 3 in Atlantic, 0 in QC, 16 in Ontario, 9 in MB, 8 in SK, 7 in AB.

The short term water advisories lifted this week include:
  • Canoe Lake No. 165 (9/30), Meadow Lake No. 105 (9/29)and Makwa Lake No. 109 (9/30) in Saskatchewan
  • Whitesand PWS (10/1) in Ontario>

    FIRST NATION LONG TERM ADVISORIES There are 38 in 36 (down from 40 in 38 communities in the last report)

    September 10, 2026

    Recently lifted long-term advisories:

  • Slate Falls Nation as of September 4, 2026 Slate Falls Nation in Ontario lifted the drinking water advisory on their public water system after completing repairs and improving operations. The Ontario Clean Water Agency has been contracted to operate the water treatment plant.
  • Pauingassi First Nation as of August 27, 2026 Pauingassi First Nation in Manitoba lifted the drinking water advisory on their public water system after completing repairs to the distribution system and replacing filters.
