Water Rates
Belleville council gave the nod Monday to a consider a new 10-year financial plan that will see water rates edging upwards yearly by 1.47 per cent until 2034 with sewer surcharges increasing in tandem at 5.83 per cent every year.
Stratford residents could be looking at a seven per cent increase in their water and a two per cent increase in wastewater rates in the near future after city council voted to accept a report that recommends that course of action at their meeting November 25
Fluoride
Montreal’s agglomeration council voted to stop fluoridating West Island water in 2025, despite fervent opposition from West Island mayors.
With Montreal city councillors holding 87 per cent of the vote compared to 13 from the demerged municipalities in the agglomeration, decisions backed by Projet Montréal often dominate.
Water Shutoffs
In Alberta, the County of Grande Prairie is once again planning to temporarily shut off water services in Hythe this week.
As part of their ongoing valve replacement project, county crews will temporarily shut off the water service for residents west of 101 Avenue and south of 106 Street for approximately eight hours, weather permitting.
Water Levels
Despite an increase in precipitation this past summer, Water levels are still very low in most areas of the Northwest Territories
Water levels have been some of the lowest on record in the past year in water bodies across the territory. On the Slave River, Great Slave Lake and the Mackenzie River, water levels are about where they were last year which is, in many cases, still the lowest on record.

High alert boil water notice for Prince Rupert
Following Northern Health's order, the City of Prince Rupert issued a community-wide boil water notice on Nov. 25 due to equipment failure.
Long Term First Nation Advisory lifted in English River, SK. The BWA issued on May 14, 2023 for La Plonge No.192 Public Water System was lifted on November 7, 2024 after upgrades to the water treatment system were completed.

The territorial government says those notices suggest the alert system is working as it should, and that there’s money coming to improve water quality.
Lac La Hache Boil water advisory rescinded
The Cariboo Regional District issued the notice on November 15th to boil water out of an abundance of caution following connection of the public water system with a new water source that required distribution lines to be opened up and exposed.
