In the News
Calgary Municipal Drinking Water System – January 24, 2025 Calgary Herald, read full article…
The decision was made November 2021 to reinstate fluoridation to the Distribution System. It was initially estimated to take 18 to 24 months to complete the Capital Upgrades, but progress has been slow. This delay has been attributed to supply chain issues and rising costs. Initially the Water Treatment Plant upgrades were projected at $10 million, that estimate has ballooned to nearly three times that total; initial cost estimate did not account for inflation nor include a contingency budget.
Commissioning of newly installed fluoridation equipment at Glenmore and Bearspaw Treatment Plants is expected this Spring.
