In the News…

WEST KELOWNA warns that Manganese levels in Rose Valley Reservoir will likely get worse as water temperatures warm. In an update Monday March 31, the City stated that levels of the naturally occurring element remained low and did not increase in the month of March. The City is working on source water improvements, in the meantime they can activate oxidant pre-dosing equipment until the long-term solution (a potassium or sodium permanganate system) is put in place.

The City advises residents not to consume discoloured water which is typical during flushing and street sweeping activities; the increased velocity stirs up sediment that has been accumulating in the pipes for decades.
