ALBERTA

STURGEON RIVER (St. Albert) – WQA issued April 18 due to elevated levels of fecal bacteria detected in the water. The Health Authority advises not to drink the water, consume fish or engage in any activities that involve exposure to the water or shoreline of the Sturgeon River, for the specific area of the river northeast of the Ray Gibbon Drive bridge downstream. The advisory came about due to sampling performed to monitor a sewage release that occurred in February due to a clogged sewer pipe; at the time, the river was frozen over.

COURTENAY (Watutco Enterprises WS) – BWN issued April 17 due to water treatment equipment failure.

UPDATE

Greater Vernon Water Utility – The BWA issued April 15 for a planned upgrade at the Warren Rd Pump Station remains in effect. During work scheduled on April 15, crews experienced unexpected complications with the installation of the new pipe and were unable to complete the full scope of the work; further work is scheduled for April 24.

Greater Vernon Water Utility – WQA was in effect April 15 to 17 due to a lack of pressure at a pump station.

Neskantaga First Nation – April 13 Vulnerable population of this remote community (fly-in access only) were evacuated due to flooding which forced the closure of their Health Care Centre; water with a strong smell of fuel was found seeping from the walls.

Service will be interrupted followed by a boil water advisory affecting Customers on the North and West pipelines; Villages of Marquis, Tuxford, Bethune, Disley and the Qu’Appelle Valley Water Users are exempt from this PDWA advisory due to their offline storage and re-chlorination capabilities.

SEMANS Waterworks – PDWA issued April 23 due to system depressurization resulting from a line break/subsequent repair.

SPRINGSIDE Distribution System – PDWA issued April 22 due to system depressurization resulting from water treatment maintenance.

LIFTED

FRONTIER Waterworks – PDWA was in effect from April 15 for a line repair.

RM of Usborne (Guernsey Water System) – PDWA was in effect from April 8 for shut off valve installations.

HALBRITE Waterworks – PDWA was in effect from April 9 for hauled water supply.

SASKATOON Municipal WS – 10 PDWAs were lifted over the weekend for advisories issued between April 13 and 15 for Water Main Breaks (5), Hydrant Repair (1), Water Connection Cut Off (1), Water Connection Installation (1), Water Connection Repair(1) and Water Connection Replacement (1). There are currently 11 localized advisories in effect for the City.
