Visitors and residents are reminded to never drink or cook with untreated water directly from the lake and an alternate source of drinking water should also be provided for pets and livestock, while this advisory is active.

ELK LAKE – BGA May 25 Swim portion of Ironman triathlon cancelled due blue-green algae bloom. The decision was made following water-quality tests taken from Elk Lake, including near the swim leg start/finish Hamsterly Beach, showed algal-bloom activity above the Health Canada threshold.

RIONDEL Water System – BWN issued May 23 due to mechanical failure of the filtration equipment requiring bypass of the water treatment plant.
