TATASKWEYAK CREE NATION – WQA issued June 18 Community members asked not to return after a mandatory evacuation order was lifted due to issues with the water supply; recent samples taken June 4 showed high levels of ALUMINUM. Their Water Treatment Plant is out of commission; no water is available. Divers found zebra mussels on the intake screens; screens were removed and cleaned. Council members met with ISC/Heath Canada & Circuit Rider June 19 to assess and discuss the next steps to rectify the problem with the WTP; an update will follow via their Facebook page. The community is also dealing with a community-wide power outage as MB Hydro replaces power structures that were damaged beyond repair during the wildfires.
