UPDATE

KITIMAT Community Water System – WQA reinstated February 13 following a BWN that was in effect from February 4 to 13 due to heavy rain causing high turbidity; All users were instructed to boil the water for at least two minutes before consumption. 
This System was previously under a WQA since January 12 for increased turbidity in the Kitimat River. 
Under the Water Quality Advisory, the water is considered safe for general use however, Northern Health recommends as a precaution, residents with weakened immune systems including infants, children, the elderly, and those who are immunocompromised boiled the water at this time prior to consumption.

COURTENAY (Watutco Enterprises WS) – BWN was in effect from January 12 for turbidity.

DUNCAN (Sungoma Art Centre) – BWN was in effect from August 21, 2025 for unacceptable water quality results.

HUDSON’S HOPE Water System – WQA was in effect February 8 to 12 following a BWN that was in effect February 7 to 8 due to an issue with the chlorine dosing system. Upon investigation, it is suspected that a program update caused the chlorine alarm system to go offline.

KILLINEY BEACH Water System – BWN was in effect February 4 to 10 following line repairs.

MAYNE ISLAND (BC Ferries Terminal - Village Bay) – BWN was in effect from November 20, 2023 unacceptable water quality results.

MAYNE ISLAND (The Groove Kitchen WS) – WQA was in effect from January 5 for chemical and/or physical water quality parameters in excess of GCDWQ.

SHAWNIGAN LAKE Resort Water System – BWN was in effect for over 7 years; from August 30, 2018 because the Water System treatment equipment did not meet the Surface Water Treatment Objectives (SWTO) as mandated by the Drinking Water Protection Regulation (DWPR). 
With the completion of the new treatment equipment installation, along with other operational changes and upgrades, routine water sampling has resumed with desired results lending to the lifting of the long-term Boil Water Notice.

THETIS LAKE (Thetis Lake Regional Park) – BGA was in effect July 20, 2025 to January 30, 2026.

VERNON (Greater Vernon Water) – BWN was in effect February 11 to 17 following a line break/repair affected Harbour Heights Rd.

VERNON (Greater Vernon Water) – WQA was in effect February 12 to 13 following a line break/repair affected Silversage Terrace and Silversage Bluff Lane.

The Water Treatment Plant currently cannot draw water into the system and therefore cannot treat the water supply; Manual chlorination is being carried out, and there have been no illnesses associated with drinking water reported in the community.

HAY RIVER Water System – 4 DWAs Drinking Water Advisories were in effect November 3, 2025 to February 3, 2026 as a result of elevated Trihalomethanes (THMs) concentration detected in the drinking water supply for the following communities: Town of Hay River, Hamlet of Enterprise, Kátł’odeeche First Nation (Catlow D Chafers), and Ka'a'gee Tu First Nation (Kakisa).
