OTTAWA – FLOOD Update Aug 12: City crews continue to work to restore traffic to several roads that were heavily damaged during a record-breaking rainstorm on Friday. The brunt of the impact was felt in Ottawa's west end, with West Carleton, Kanata and Carp experiencing many flooded roads and intersections, some culverts washed out and some partial road collapses.

QUEBEC update: Lundi après-midi, la Sécurité publique a déclaré que 52 municipalités du Québec étaient touchées par les précipitations record; 14 municipalités sont en état d'urgence en raison du système de tempête; 200 sont toujours sans électricité; les conditions routières compliquent l'accès pour Hydro et les équipes d'urgence.
Un porte-parole du ministère de l'Environnement du Québec a confirmé qu'un autre petit déversement de pétrole a été observé dans le fleuve Saint-Laurent au large de l'est de Montréal à la suite de la pluie de vendredi. La Ville de Montréal n'a toujours pas identifié la source de deux déversements d'huile à moteur qui se sont déversés dans le fleuve à partir d'un égout pluvial de la ville le mois dernier dans le quartier Pointe-aux-Trembles. A spokesperson for Quebec’s Environment Department confirmed that another small oil spill was observed in the St. Lawrence River off eastern Montreal following the rain on Friday. The City of Montreal has still not identified the source of two motor oil spills that flowed into the river from a city storm sewer last month in the Pointe-aux-Trembles district. More oil has shown up in the river following each major rainfall since. --
