BRITISH COLUMBIA

BOWEN ISLAND (Woods Road Water Users Group) – BWN issued February 13 due to total coliform bacteria detected in recent samples.

CRANBROOK Municipal WS – WQA issued March 2 due to the possibility of elevated MANGANESE and increased turbidity or cloudiness in the water supply as a result of pressure changes during inspection of the City’s main water trunk line that supplies water from Phillips Reservoir. The inspection is scheduled for March 2 to March 6 for the purpose of assessing the condition of the pipe, help plan repairs before problems occur and establish updated timelines for future replacement; reduce the risk of a catastrophic failure.

GIBSONS (Six Acre) – WQA issued January 27 due to System construction not being in compliance with the Water Sustainability Act (WSA) and the Groundwater Protection Regulation (GWPR); in order to meet the Drinking Water Treatment Objectives, 2 types of treatment are required. The water source is from a shallow well and deemed as Ground Water at Risk of Containing Pathogens (GARP); installation of a secondary treatment is required to lift the Advisory.

INLAND LAKE PROVINCIAL PARK – WQA in effect February 25. Vancouver Coastal Health has applied a Permanent Water Quality Advisory to BC Parks hand-pump systems due to the inherent microbiological risk associated with untreated groundwater at publicly accessible sources. 
Advisory documentation identified potential contamination pathways from backflow, nearby sources such as outhouses, campsites, vehicles, campfires, fuel storage, greywater discharge, blackwater holding tanks, and inadequate grading or drainage around the wellhead that may allow surface water infiltration.

KELOWNA (Black Mountain Irrigation District) – WQA issued February 23 due to maintenance work on the Ultraviolet disinfection system.

PEMBERTON (Lillooet Lake Estates WS) – BWN issued February 20 due to total coliform bacteria detected in recent samples.

PENDER ISLAND Public Library – BWA issued February 6 due to unacceptable water quality results (Microbiological).

PRINCE GEORGE (United Initiators Canada Ltd) – BWN issued February 18 due to total coliform bacteria detected in recent samples.
